Matthew 21:1-11
New world where people expect is like the kingdom of David. They believe that Jesus will restore their pride. However, Jesus entered Jerusalem with riding on the donkey although he accepted applause and hospitality. His purpose is not to establish the powerful kingdom in terms of worldly view but heavenly value. Therefore, he was not totally red-faced in front of people. It is because core value in his kingdom is sacrifice, humbleness, and love. Christianity is not about grandizement.
Matthew 21:12-22
Jesus drove out all who were buying and selling in the temple. And he asked people broke down the temple in other part. All deeds that they did in the temple would be nothing. All sacrifice would be denounced because Jesus would be crucified. His action is not about cleaning the temple but proclamation of all ceremonies in old testaments.
Israelites who didn't accept Jesus who is the completion of old testaments would wither. Although they should realize they couldn't be the children of God, they just boasted of theie identity as the chosen people. They totally misunderstood. We cannot enter heaven with the shoddy leaves but the fruits of faith.
Matthew 21:23-32
If they understand the ministry of John the baptist, they could accept Jesus. But they didn't have any intention to accept John, instead they just wanted to avoid the coming wrath. There is no Abraham's children without born again.
In this sense, though they wanted to obey God's word, they couldn't reach. Why? As the prophet Hosea said, unless they break up their unplowed ground, they couldn't sow righteousness and reap the fruit of unfailing love at all. Heaven is for the people who repent their sin and come back to Jesus.
Matthew 21:33-46
It's another answer in a comparison for Jesus' authority. Jesus said that the kingdom of God will be given to people who produce its fruit. Therefore, it is also related to Messiah. Without Messiah, they can never bear proper fruit.
